Some online businesses may only want to collect reviews for their core products, and forgo reviews for accessories. The steps below will outline two tags that you may use to ensure that automatic review invitations are not sent for certain products. When these tags are implemented on your Shopify store:
- If a product with this tag is ordered by itself, no automatic review invitation email will be sent out
- If a product with this tag is ordered is ordered along with other products that do not have this tag, an automatic review invitation will be sent out and this email will only request reviews for the products without the tag
How do I prevent automatic product review emails from being sent for certain products?
Log into the admin section of your Shopify store and navigate to your 'Products'.
Select the product(s) that you would like to restrict (i.e. the products that you do not want to collect reviews for).
Go to 'More actions' and select 'Add tags'
Add ONE of the following tag depending on the function that you would like to perform -
This tag will stop product review emails from being triggered for this specific product if it is ordered by a customer. However, if you have implemented the rating badges and review widgets on your product pages these badges and widgets will still appear.
This tag will stop product review emails from being triggered for this specific product if it is ordered by a customer. However, if you have implemented the rating badges and review widgets on your product pages, you or your development team will need to write logic to hide the rating badges and review widgets for these specific products in relation to this tag.
