What are SEO Rating Snippets?
SEO Rating Snippets refer to structured data markup that can be added to a web page, which allows search engines to better understand what information is contained within that page. In our specific case, you can add the average rating received on ProductReview.com.au for your product, to the relevant product page, to show stars in Google Search Result Pages (SERPs). Here is an example:
Installing SEO Rating Snippets on your site
Method 1, Using our SEO Rating Snippet Widget:
Log in to the Brand Management Platform and navigate to the 'Widgets' section (the link is in the side menu of our Marketing Tools). Then navigate to the 'SEO Rating Snippet' widget. Carefully follow the setup instructions.
We strongly advise not to have this code on multiple pages of your site as this could be against Google SEO Guidelines.
Method 2, Using our SEO Rating Snippet API:
This method is more technical and would require a Web Developer to implement it (it may work when method 1 doesn't). You need to be able to make HTTP requests to retrieve the rating data, which is sometimes not possible when using e-commerce platforms like Shopify.
We will provide you with an API endpoint to retrieve the required information to be used in your own implementation of the Google Rich Review Snippets:

Please contact us (Technical Support) if you would like us to provide the SEO Rating Snippet API endpoint.
Testing SEO Rating Snippets
Google provides a useful tool to test the installation of your SEO Rating Snippet. Please input the web page where you've installed the code to make sure everything works correctly.

The Big Don'ts
- Don't place this code on many pages; this could be against Google Guidelines. We recommend placing it on the About us page or a dedicated review page (this can be created using our Review Widget).
- For retailers, don't place the SEO Rating Snippet for your Company (merchant reviews) on product pages, as this would be misleading and against ours and Google's Guidelines.
If you're having any issues with the installation please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
Note: The SEO Rating Snippet code is completely separate from the code provided for Rating Badges and Review Widgets.
Furthermore, Google has also made an update so that SEO Rating Snippets that show star ratings are no longer supported for service and company reviews. This has been rolled out across all review platforms. You can read more about this here.
However, your ProductReview.com.au page will still have its SEO Rating Snippet stars, as we are an independent review platform. As a result, we encourage you to collect reviews for your page to make it more visible in Google searches.
